HISTORY

Barangay Gajo used to be a sitio of the barangay of Tigbi. Gajo took its name from the small bamboo- like trunks that were abundant in the area. These gajo trunk stacks made good materials for walling, bird cages, cabinets and other decorative handicrafts. There were so many gajo stacks that the people remarked ma gajo whenever they were asked about the place, referring to the abundance of gajo. More and more people from nearby barangays eventually migrated to the area to access the gajo materials and since they planned on living in Gajo, they soon decided to develop its open lands into rice fields. These people eventually formed the place into a barangay, calling it simply Gajo.
