HISTORY

Long ago, Belen was once a sitio of the barangay of Nagas called Malabog. Malabog separated from Nagas and became its own barangay with Leon Contante as its first Teniente Del Barrio. The barangay continued to be called Malabog from 1932 up to 1972. Then in 1973, the barangay council decided to change the name of the barangay to Belen in honor of their patron saint, the Nuestra Señora De Belen (Our Lady of Bethlehem). It is one of the geothermal barangays in the municipality.
