HISTORY
Barangay Putsan was once a very small barangay before the coming of the Spanish. In those times, travelers from neighboring barangays like Cale and Naga were forced to pass a lengthy, spiral stretch of dirt to reach the barangay of Bolo. Fortunately, a short trail in the heart of barangay Putsan offered travelers faster and safer passage to reach Bolo. Residents from the surrounding barangays used this trail from then on, making the place famous all over the land. It was originally named Putosan, a word which means the shortest possible way between two places. The name Putosan eventually evolved to Putchan because of the barangay’s Castillan influence, before finally becoming Putsan today. It is one of the geothermal barangays in the municipality.
