HISTORY
The barangay of Oyama was once composed of two settlements that were each part of Tigbi and Bagumbayan. An upper settlement called Guinangan contained numerous natural springs that were used for irrigation. The lower settlement, called Ma Ogama, was named after the presence of many small freshwater crabs called ogama that spawned during the growing season of rice. The name Ma Ogama was eventually changed to Oyama and then absorbedGuinangan to form a single barangay.
