HISTORY
Mayong was originally named after the region’s most famous volcano, the beautiful Mount Mayon. While it was a name that would have inspired pride to the inhabitants of the barangay, the name instead brought fear to the populace. The superstitious people were afraid that using the name of Mayon would cause their place to violently erupt like the volcano itself. Hence, they decided to add the letter G, naming their barangay as Mayong.
