HISTORY
Back in the Spanish era, Bolo was once one of the oldest barangays in the municipality of Malinao. Many years ago, there was an abundance of bolo plants found growing in the barangay that would eventually be called Bolo. Similar to banana or abaca plants, the bolo plant had tiny fruits that were no bigger than a thumb. The early inhabitants used these plants for their potent medicinal properties that the early inhabitants used to treat children with upset stomachs. The people used the phrase sa mambolo to refer to the barangay until it became simply Bolo.
