HISTORY
The barangay of Biyong was formerly known as Burabod in the olden times. Burabod was the home of a natural spring with pure water that the people used for bathing, drinking and special festivities.
More people settled in Burabod to take part in the spring’s waters. In time, a large pili tree grew in Burabod, its massive size separating it from other pili trees. This unique pili tree grew a fruit called a big fruit called biyong, further distinguishing it from the rest. This fruit became so popular among the younger residents that they eventually preferred to call the barangay Biyong after the fruit they so enjoyed. It is one of the geothermal barangays in the municipality.
