HISTORY
Before it was called Joroan, the barangay was once a barrio of Buhi, Camarines Sur, named Cagnipa. The province of Albay eventually made a territorial claim on the barrio which officially made it a part of Tiwi. After becoming citizens of a new province, the residents of Cagnipa then decided to change the name of their barangay into Horoan, a kind of fish. The name Horoan was then changed to Joroan over time. Today, Joroan is famous for being the home of the Church of Our Lady of Salvation, one of two shrines in Tiwi visited by religious pilgrims from all over. It is one of the geothermal barangays in the municipality.
