HISTORY
The barangay of Cale was found sometime as a sitio of Cararayan in 1850 under the leadership of the first Cabeza de Barangay, Cabesang Ino, during the Spanish regime. Cale is a Bikolano word meaning “canal”. This was the name given to the barangay because of a giant flood in folklore that overran the barangay and turned it into a deep canal. Later on, the inhabitants of Cale became a separate barangay after claiming for independence. Today, Cale is the site of the Philippine Geothermal Plant Inc., now partly owned by Chevron Philippines Inc. It is one of the geothermal barangays in the municipality.
