Baybay

HISTORY

The barangay of Baybay was so named because of its nearness to the sea. Much like the Tagalog word for coast, baybayin, Baybay is also frequently visited by sea waves that bring an abundance of sand on its shores. Since the early times, Baybay has been a place where weary fishermen could relax after a long day of hauling fish from the bountiful waters of Corangon Shoal. The place later became a major center for the barter and selling of fish, which is at its busiest during the early sunrise when fishermen first go out to sea.
